The Zarn was the Second Episode of the Second Season of the Land of the Lost.

Summary[]

While investigating the Mist Marsh, the Marshall family stumbles onto a mysterious woman who has a bit too much in common with Rick.

Plot[]

Rick and Will Marshall are exploring a previously unseen area in the Land of the Lost and come across a depression in the ground covered in a dense fog. Rick estimates, based on the length of time they've been walking, that they are approximately one kilometer from High Bluff. Rick decides they will return tomorrow to discover what's under the mist. Holly is back at the cave preparing dinner.

Before they can begin their return journey, Spot appears, pursued by Grumpy. To avoid Grumpy, who is blocking their path, Rick and Will descend into the Mist Marsh and begin to look for an alternate route.

Message[]

  • "If it seems too good to be true, it probably is."

Trivia[]

  • Will dubs this unexplored area the Mist Marsh, despite none of the Marshalls having explored it yet. He couldn't know if there was truly a marsh in this area or something else. And during Rick and Will's time in the area, they encountered no water, nothing to suggest that the area is a marsh at all.
  • When the Zarn introduces himself to Rick Marshall, he says, "I am Zarn," as if it were his name rather that his species. When the Marshalls refer to him in later episodes, they refer to him as "the Zarn." But little is known about him, whether he is a unique creature or one of many of his kind. However, the fact that he owns a vessel capable of interstellar travel, which he apparently cannot construct or repair on his own, suggests that there are more of his kind somewhere.
